21st January 2009: Permits of Stay should only be renewed to foreigners who pay administrative fines issued to them, the Commander of Venice Municipal Police Marco Agostini has suggested.
There are many foreigners who feel free not to pay fines because they know that currently there is no way of recovering the amounts, he said.
Mr. Agostini wants the government to come up with a rule that makes it impossible for those who haven’t paid the fines to renew their Permits of Stay.
